We’re sure you’ve heard of couples who renew their wedding vows after years of marriage – well why not renew your engagement ring!
In our opinion, upgrading or re-modelling your engagement ring is a great way to refresh a ring that you might have bought when you were much younger and now you want something a little more expensive. Or perhaps your tastes have changed, and you want to wear a ring that’s a little more ‘You.’ Whatever the ‘why’, there are plenty of options for the ‘how’ that we would love to share with you.
Have it re-worked
If your engagement ring’s metal and stones are in good condition but you want a bigger or slightly different stone, we can re-work it suit your current taste.
Below is an engagement ring re-work that we did for a customer recently. They wanted a new, bigger Diamond to replace a lost one. We removed their old ring setting and supplied a new one.
Then we used their original shoulders and shank to create a “new” ring for them. It’s what we call having a new experience with old memories!
Re-model it into a necklace
Sometimes trends come along, or sometimes women just think differently about how they want to wear their engagement ring. You can wear your engagement ring around your neck threaded through a necklace. Alternatively, some women take the Diamonds or other gemstones from their ring and ask us to make it into a pendant. We do this by adding a pendant setting that fits their stone and attaching it to a necklace of their choice.
This type of re-model would work for any of your rings by the way, it doesn’t have to be an engagement ring. Below is a re-model we did for one of our customers recently. We removed their Diamonds from a two-stone twist ring.
We used one Diamond to make a “new” ring with a new shank, and the other we set into a pendant setting to wear around her neck. You could say that this way their engagement ring is closer to their heart!
Add a Wed-Fit band
A Wed-Fit band is a ring that moulds around your engagement ring, sitting perfectly flush against it without any gaps. A great way to upgrade the look of your engagement ring, without actually taking your original ring apart. We can often create a ring that will sit flush against yours or you can order one from one of our catalogues. If we create a ring for you it gives you much more control over how your new ring will look.
Another perk of adding a Wed-Fit ring is that it creates the optical illusion of a much fuller ring. It also means you don’t have the issue of your engagement and wedding ring rubbing over each other, which can often result in extra wear of their metals.
